Each weapon has its own particular skills that gravitate toward a bit of a common theme (ie, hammers are for hardcore clobberin' action while swords are more suited to finesse). The main site here has a Skill Listing that you should check out, and see which one you like.

First of all, is this for PvP or PvE.

In PvP I, personally, would reccomend hammers for the knockdown/aftershock combo, but others prefer an axe or sword giving them more defense since you can weild a shield.

For PvE, I would reccomend swords or axes only, and swords for the beginning of the game unless you have a better axe. The starting sword skills like sever artery and gash are quite powerful for the start of the game, as degeneration will kill things quickly. I would not reccomend hammers for PvE, as the main purpose of a warrior is to tank, and to tank effectively, a shield will be used.
